Dec 06, 2021 The Ghanaian Women’s Association of Georgia (GWAG) welcomed Ghana’s first female Ambassador to the USA, Hajia Alima Mahama, while on a short visit to Atlanta. Hajia Alima Mahama and the team at the Ghana mission had a meet and greet, followed by a town hall forum with the leadership of various member associations of Ghana Council of Georgia. Dear colleagues and friends:

I am very proud to be president of the Ghana Council of Georgia, an organization increasingly recognized as one of the finest in the Diaspora. Headquartered in Atlanta, the Ghana Council of Georgia is a 501(c)(3) organization that serves as the gateway through which citizens and interested parties can be directed to establish links within the various associations in the Ghanaian community in Georgia.

The Council comprises registered Ghanaian based associations or societies in the state of Georgia, USA. We are a body of representatives of member associations charged with the responsibility to promote the aims and objectives of the Ghana Council of Georgia, Inc.

We have revamped and improved the Ghana Council website to meet your needs. We have added new features that include a classified section where you would find Ghanaian/African businesses and services. We hope you will continue to visit and be a part of us.

Finally, friends, please do not hesitate to contact me with any suggestions and ideas to take our community forward. Long Live the Ghana Council of Georgia.

The Ghanaian Women’s Association of Georgia (GWAG) welcomed Ghana’s first female Ambassador to the USA, Hajia Alima Mahama, while on a short visit to Atlanta.

Hajia Alima Mahama and the team at the Ghana mission had a meet and greet, followed by a town hall forum with the leadership of various member associations of Ghana Council of Georgia. Also present at the town hall forum were Akwasi Awua Ababio, Director of the Diaspora Affairs and Nadia Adongo Musah, Deputy Director of the Diaspora Affairs, Office of the President and other members of the Ghanaian community in Georgia.

During the Q&A session, the Ambassador commended the continued efforts in the Diaspora to support the motherland.

The envoy made a special mention of The Ghanaian Women’s Association of Georgia (GWAG) and commended them for many years of their global philanthropy in the area of maternal and child healthcare, education for female students in Georgia and entrepreneurship.

Consular services in Atlanta – The Ambassador defined a timeline for establishing an Honorary Consulate in Atlanta.

Several suggestions were made to help resolve difficulties encountered by Ghanaians when transacting business with the embassy, especially the telephone system and the portal for visa applications and passport renewals.

The Ambassador promised to address the concerns towards improving customer service delivery at the embassy.

There was also a presentation by the Director of Diaspora Affairs Office at the Presidency, Mr. Akwasi Awua Ababio, who encouraged all to engage his office on the front end of various projects in a timely fashion.
